how do you cope with things?
lately a topic of conversation here has been how we get over things. some eat, some vent (constantly), some just wallow in the pain until its gone, some don't want to talk about it, some hover and some just refuse to accept it.
why?
i guess its part of just who we are and what has happened to us in the past. we know how we deal with things and what works for us, even if our methods seem ridiculous to anyone looking from the outside. this makes me think of a will & grace episode (yep, i'm referencing will & grace). in the episode, grace is getting over nathan. how she deals with it is by staying in bed, looking at slides and yelling at her younger self. will, karen and jack decide to intervene and grab grace and take her to the shower. they try to cold shock her out of it. then grace gets out and tells them that she wishes she was as strong as them and could get over things as fast as they did. then she gets back in bed. eventually, the other three climb in bed with her as well and in doing so, admit they aren't as strong as they'd like to be. the next segment shows them all in bed sleeping. grace wakes up, smiles and gets out of bed.
we all have our own ways of dealing with hurt and we don't know why, but we know what works for us. let it be. you know how you work.

I feel like I'm really going to enjoy this blog. :) I like your thoughts, pantses.
p.s... i feel like I should tell you that the word verification thingy that I have to type in for this comment is "panst" so ironic.. almost. hehe.
vent (constantly)...sounds familiar
I definitely support that everyone handles stress, sadness, etc. in their own way. I love your reference to the Will and Grace episode because it definitely shows that we shouldnt try to change people and how they handle things..unless its harmful to them..because ultimately all we need are friends to care and love us :) So..next time someone is having a bad day whether they vent or eat or sleep..support them in that and join them if you have to cuz all they might need is a friend :)
